Address validation

Review how checkout can catch delivery problems, offer pickup alternatives, and protect private destination details before a buyer reaches any payment boundary.

Address Readiness

  • Checkout can show whether a saved destination is ready for shipment, needs an apartment or unit prompt, or requires a different handoff choice.
  • The demo uses fictional labels and masked destination areas so visitors never enter real street addresses.
  • Changing a destination should refresh shipping estimates, protection cues, pickup alternatives, and support expectations before checkout review continues.

Carrier Availability

  • Carrier cards should show standard shipment, signature delivery, insured shipment, oversized package limits, weekend availability, and scan expectations.
  • High-value items can require insured shipment, hub pickup, or staff-confirmed release when carrier coverage is weak.
  • International delivery should show country eligibility, customs needs, restricted category blocks, duties, and return limitations before any buyer confirmation.

Unsupported Destinations

  • Unavailable service should explain the issue: PO box restriction, oversized item, category block, missing unit detail, local-only item, or carrier exception.
  • Buyers should get clear next actions such as correct address label, choose hub pickup, select local pickup, split the cart, or remove the item.
  • Seller terms should not promise delivery methods that the destination, item size, category, or service level cannot support.

Masked Address Labels

  • Buyers can recognize Home, Office, Gift recipient, or Hub pickup labels without exposing a full street address in the demo UI.
  • Seller dashboards should show region, package class, signature requirement, insurance need, and ship-by timing before private destination details are needed.
  • Messages should block attempts to request addresses, phone numbers, outside payment, or unrelated personal details.

Seller Visibility

  • Sellers need enough information to pack correctly, meet the ship-by promise, and understand pickup restrictions without seeing unnecessary private location details.
  • Hub pickup orders can keep release details inside the hub flow while still giving sellers proof that the order is moving.
  • Any private destination access should be tied to a shipment state, staff role, support case, or customer-approved correction.

Support Evidence

  • Missing, delayed, damaged, or undeliverable orders need selected address label, masked region, carrier status, delivery events, package proof, and buyer notice history.
  • Address correction should preserve who changed the label, why it changed, when the estimate refreshed, and what customer notice was shown.
  • Staff review should show why private delivery information was accessed and keep that access visible in audit history.

Privacy Retention

  • Address records should remain only as long as needed for active orders, open reports, returns, tax records, legal holds, or customer choice.
  • Exports should separate masked delivery labels from private address fields, support notes, and staff access records.
  • Deletion controls should explain what can be removed immediately and what must stay attached to completed orders or open cases.

Owner Approval

  • Launch approval should cover validation copy, unit prompts, carrier fallback, destination blocks, seller visibility, support evidence, and retention rules.
  • Support owners need scripts for wrong address, missing unit, undeliverable package, failed pickup, lost shipment, and customer correction requests.
  • Rollbacks should disable address-dependent checkout paths without hiding existing order timelines or support evidence.

Privacy & Data

Current demo state

Address validation is shown without collecting addresses.

The demo uses fictional labels, masked destination areas, carrier cards, fallback choices, and support evidence so address readiness can be reviewed safely.

Future platform state

Live validation needs secure delivery services.

Launch needs account sign-in, customer consent, secure address storage, validation providers, carrier coverage, seller visibility limits, staff access logs, deletion controls, and owner sign-off.
