Active, won, and lost bids need different next steps

The buyer should know when they are leading, when checkout review is available, when a bid failed, and when only similar items make sense.

Active Bids

  • Active bid rows should keep item title, current bid, top bid, close time, seller, condition, and handoff method together.
  • Leading, outbid, reserve not met, ending soon, and support hold states should have clear next actions.
  • Buyer alerts should link back to the exact listing and bid state that changed.

Max Bid Controls

  • Top bid limits should show the buyer's current limit, next required bid, bid increment, and whether the limit is still private.
  • Changing a top bid should preserve a visible review step before the buyer confirms the new limit.
  • High-value items can show identity, authorization, or support review status before the next bid is accepted.

Won Auctions

  • Won auctions should move from bidding into checkout review with item snapshot, seller, fees, handoff choice, and closeout timestamp.
  • Reviews should only appear after a completed purchase or auction win with fulfilled handoff.
  • Report options should open from won items, purchase history, or order detail only.

Lost Bids

  • Lost bids should explain the closing price, final state, whether the reserve was met, and why the buyer did not win.
  • Similar item suggestions should open search or category pages instead of pretending the same item is still available.
  • Past bids should stay visible for account history, support context, and pricing memory.

Reserve State

  • Reserve met, reserve not met, and no-reserve states should be visible before the buyer bids.
  • Reserve changes need seller disclosure, support visibility, and an audit trail before an auction opens.
  • Closeout should not push a buyer into checkout when reserve terms were not satisfied.

Retraction Review

  • Retraction requests should collect reason, listing change, timing, buyer history, and support decision state.
  • Accepted retractions should explain account impact and restore the auction to a clear public state.
  • Repeated retractions should connect to bid integrity and account review.

Closeout Checkout

  • Winning buyers should see checkout review with item price, service lines, delivery or pickup choice, and acknowledgement before payment is connected.
  • Closeout holds should explain whether the hold comes from support, identity, reserve, seller cancellation, or handoff readiness.
  • Checkout should stop at a review-only cart boundary in this demo and should not request payment details.

Readiness Review

  • Bid states, top bid controls, reserve rules, retraction handling, closeout checkout, alerts, and support access need readiness review before live accounts.
  • Operator review should connect bids center behavior to auction operations, bid integrity, terms, finance, and support pages.
  • Launch needs rollback controls for bad closeouts, noisy alerts, mistaken reserves, and payment authorization failures.
